My mom still loves telling the story about me asking if what she was saying was sarcasm when I was little. Now that I am a mom I love watching my boys figure out what sarcasm is and how to use it. Some might not find it as awesome as I do but in our house it is a serious life skill needed for survival.
My youngest E loves a book where they make marshmallow cookies so this was my way of cooking something similar for him. I randomly had all these ingredients so away we baked. They turned out well but next time I would use regular white four opposed to the white wheat flour I used. For some reason I think it bakes differently.
This is what came home from school with E today and I couldn’t resist sharing it. Today will be a backwards post. I will pin it from here. They used a small pine cone and a small plate. You could put the pine cone on any kind of plate and I would have probably used a plain colored one of I did the project myself. Then they glued multicolored feather on the back of the pine cone to make turkey feathers. I head and waddle were made out of pipe cleaners. They make a great gift or place card holder. Depending on the size of your Thanksgiving crowd they can also be used as a kids craft the day of.
Forget today, this is true for the past few weeks. Although I have not been posting daily I have been pinning daily and making notes so eventually I can catch up and write daily again. Playing catch up is a bitch. I will say, life keeps moving forward and today it looks pretty good. Can’t ask for much more than that.
I have officially started my Christmas shopping and this was one of my first purchases. Both my boys love to cook in their kitchen but my four year old especially loves to spend time in the kitchen. WIth that being said, who doesn’t love breakfast in bed? Training him at an early age.
This is the theme of my life since becoming a mom and it doesn’t seem to be getting better. The reasons are different depending on the day. Sometimes it is just because I need more sleep, some days it is because I am getting three people ready instead of one, and some days I just can’t seem to read a clock. Maybe someday I will be able to get places early once again. What am I thinking, I would be happy with on time without rushing. A mom can only dream…
Day thirty was just one of those days that goes down in the best day ever book. I went bridal dress shopping with my little sister which was surreal but amazing. It is hard to think she is even old enough to be getting married. She will always be my little sister but she is all grown up. Then I went to dinner at the Mexican restaurant that the Jerry Maguire restaurant scene was filmed. Tom Cruise creeps me out now but that is still one of my favorite movies ever. I topped the day off with a screening of Lincoln at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences movie theater with a panel after the movie. Can’t beat Steven Speilberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Kushner, Sally Field, Daniel Day Lewis, and John Williams. The movie was wonderful. It was beautifully written and acted. Oh, and the music by John Williams wasn’t bad either. With all that happened during the day it is hard to pick a pin to attach it to. So, day thirty is dedicated to my board “the hollywood in me.”
It has been a few days since I posted not because I have not been doing pins but because I have been experiencing pins. Check another thing off my bucket list. Friday night I spent a few freezing hours with Barbara Streisand at the Hollywood Bowl. It was amazing and even better I got to enjoy Barbara with my mom and sisters. Great family bonding. And it was a family affair for her as well. She sang with her son and sister which was a nice personal touch. Her stories were great and the songs were unforgettable. It made for an unforgettable night.
